A Fly On the Wall

If I could be, a fly on the wall
I would come back, and I would tell all
Of the hell you will go through, refusing the Lord
Who came from His throne, to bring you His Word
Even my eyes, a thousand may be
The black is so black, I can’t even see
I wish I had hands, to cover my ears
To block out the screams, so loud and so clear
I’d fly away fast, from the terror it brings
If the heat from the flames, hadn’t burned off my wings
I’d walk if I could, but where would I go
There isn’t a ceiling, nor even a floor
If that’s not enough, it’s worse even more
Even if I could walk, there isn’t a door
Just a huge pit, it’s black and it’s hot
I shiver to think, of the nothing it’s got
But a fly on the wall, is not what you need
The rich man and Lazarus, is what you should read
Oh, a cool drop of water, for quenching my tongue
At least send a warning, to each of my sons
Send back a man, to tell of my cries
They’ll surely believe, from someone who died
But Abraham said “They wouldn’t believe”
For one died and arose, and they wouldn’t receive
Crucified, buried, and walked once again
Among all your sons, and all of their friends
Oh, the things that we hear, us flies on the wall
I surely am glad, I can’t see at all
There’s no drop of water, to put on your tongue
No dead man to send, to warn all your sons.
Shoo fly, shoo fly, fly away tell
Go warn my sons of this terrible Hell
But they wouldn’t listen, to the greatest of all
Why would they listen, to a fly on the wall
A man crucified, rose up again
For forty more days, walked among men
I’m sorry to tell you, you’re going to be grieved
He talked and they listened, but didn’t believe
Now I’m not a fly, and I ain’t been to Hell
Though I’ve never been either, this I will tell
I win if it’s true, I win if it’s not
I’m going with Jesus, Not where it’s hot.
